Project Management in the Chemical Industry.

Constructability Study Report - Continued Part 2

12.0 Area demarcation during project execution:
Project shall be executed considering the operation of the exiting process units within the premises during the entire construction period. Considering the construction activity in the existing premises with constraint of space, it is essentially required to properly demarcated the area required for the construction under following head.

1. Permit Free Zone :
Permit Free zone is the area which shall be properly demarcated & barricaded and construction activities in these area can be carried out by the contractor without permit, ensuring the safety guidelines as required for ensuring safety during the construction activities.

2. Permit Zone:
Permit zones is the area where activity can be performed by the contractors during the construction activity taking the permit from CLIENT/CONSULTANT, there area are normally the area which has interface with the existing process nuits. Agreed permit conditions are to be ensured by the contractor before initiating the works as indicated in the Company guidelines. Permits are required to be renewed as per the guidelines of the Client/CONSULTANT.

3. Restricted area:
Restricted area is the zone where contractor movement is restricted and shall be reviewed by CLIENT/CONSULTANT on case to case basis. Movement of contractor in this Zone shall be at the discretion of the CLIENT/CONSULTANT.

4. No Movement Zone: No Movement zone is the area in which no movement of contractor is allowed. These are the mainly the ISBL of the running process unit. Area wise demarcation shall be marked in the plot plan for ready reference.

12.0 Man, Material Movement During Project Execution:
Ensuring uninterrupted process plant operation during the construction is a major challenge, it is therefore important to segregate the movement paths during construction phase of the project. Roads and approaches required for normal process operation and construction needs to be segregated and clearly defined before the execution of the project. There shall be requirement of check gates for restricting the movement of manpower and machinery during the construction phase so that same will not interfere with the exiting process. Considering above approaches, entry & roads are demarcated in the plot plan with different colors. Location of proposed check gates is clearly indicated. There are locations wherein it is required to have fencing for demarcating the areas are also indicated in the plot plans.

16.0 ROUTE FOR ODC MOVEMENT DURING PROJECTION EXECUTION INSIDE process
Route for ODC movement during project execution inside the process area as required is marked in the layout.

17.0 LIST OF ODC CONSIGNMENTS FOR THE PROJECT
List out of the ODC equipments expected in the project, mention Dimensions, weights indicated in the table only for reference purpose, actual dimensions and weight of the equipments shall be finalized during detailed engineering.

18.0 EXPECTED OCCUPANCY OF ODC CONSIGNMENTS MOVEMENT INSIDE process DURING CONSTRUCTION Mention the details here.

19.0 LAY DOWN AREA & CONSTRUCTION WARE HOUSES Area allocation is one of the concern during construction, site contractors may demand some minimum area for laydown during construction, same needs to be identified, so that suitable conditions can be formulated in the contracts for necessary compliance by the contractors during execution. if their is constraint in providing the laydown area then Laydown & warehousing area shall be provided in the vicinity of process and shall be well connected with the project location, or Client should also take lease of such plots for the purposes of warehousing for storage of materials & specially bulk materials.

20.0 SUGGESTED ORGANOGRAM FOR SITE MANGEMENT DURING CONSTRUCTION: Suggested organogram of consultant & manpower deployment chart for construction management are attached in the following page.

21 SITE FEATURES OF PROCESS UNITs:
Please refer below some points and similarly other points can be considered.

1. Site is well approachable from the Road.
2. Site is having roads all around the plot.
3. Drains are already existing all around the plot with proper connectivity with ETP.
4. Site elevation is presently undulated and requires side grading.
5. No constraint wrt ODC equipment movement and handling of heavy lift equipments & crane.
6. Condition of the roads & Drains around the plot are good.
7. High mast light post are available in the plot, same shall be retained during initial phase of the construction, relocation if required shall be planned only after finalization of equipment layout and can be relocated before commencement of mechanical erection phase if required.
8. Plot is also having various underground facilities including foundations of ......

22 SITE CONSTRAINTS:
Please refer below some points and similarly other points can be considered.

1. if their is any Live fire hydrants network inside the plot then it is required to be rerouted during construction phase.
3. Because of the removal of old facilities there maY BE foundation of old equipments, these needs to be dismantled, before handing over the site to the contractor.
4. Their may be lot of old structural & piping material dumped in the plot and same is required to be removed.

23 MITIGATION MEASURES:
1. All the underground facilitate including piping & underground cable to be identified, and to be isolated for dismantling.
2. Remove all the underground foundations of process/utilities including pipe rack sleepers, pipe racks etc. after removal of these facilities site to be graded before the start of new construction.
3. After Topographic survey site grading activity to be immediately taken up. 4. Rerouting & dismantling of fire water network to be done. 5. All the dump piping, structural material to be removed, before handing over the site to the contractor.
6. Immediately after Finalization of equipment layout unit specific constructability to be taken up .
